Ion Orchard

ION and Orchard, formerly the Orchard Turn Development or just plain Orchard Turn Site
This is another area where retail and residential living combine to give you 335 food and retail outlet shops as part of the overall residential development by Orchard Turn Developments PTE Limited, which is a joint venture between CapitaLand and Sun Kai Properties and started operating July 21, 2009.

The Orchard Residences as the high-rise condominium is known as, was completed along with this vast shopping mall in Hillhaven Condo 2010 and has a leasehold for 99 years starting in March 2006.

Ion Orchard Shopping Centre

On February 5, 2007, and July 16, 2007, both the Orchard Residences and ION Orchard were built on land that used to be a park. All this connects the ION Orchard development to the MRT station’s exit E, which opened on January 15, 2008.

With over 941,700 sq. ft and 663,000 sq ft of retail space makes this area a bit smaller than Suntec City Mall and Vivo City, which is the largest mall in Singapore.

However, ION Orchard is larger than Ngee Ann City. The Orchard Turn Development has already won two EG Retail and Future Project Awards, Best Architectural Emerald of Katong Entry and the Best Retail Development with the size over 20,000 m². These awards were given at Mapic, which was held in Cannes, France, in November 2006.

With almost 400 retail outlets that include Rubi Shoes that opened in July 2009, and since then has expanded islandwide. This and other flagship establishments such as Li Ning and Bershka are also in residence here. In 2012Rubi moved to a more prestigious location that used to be owned by Etude House.

If you like variety, there are several new-to-market food and dining attractions which makes the food court at ION Orchard something you should really try as already many of the local area favorites are there as well. Recently, the Hong Kong supermarket chain, ThreeSixty opened their first store there as well.

Huge Shopping Centre at Orchard

In fact, more than 21% of the area has been designated for dining purposes and out of the 125 restaurants, 60 are specially or nouveau establishments. On level 4 you can find 28 restaurants and cafés and levels 2 and 3 are set aside for casual dining. You can even find the returned to Singapore Dunkin’ Donuts as well as an Estheva Spa to round out the attractions you can find in this area.

In fact, you can even find the Singapore Airlines City Ticketing Office that formerly was located at The Paragon.

8 St Thomas Condo Orchard is also located at Orchard. The developer is Bukit Sembawang Estates Limited.
